In Touch

In Touch

A tree's lifetime holds a vast amount of experience.

In Touch is an interactive installation in which the visitor connects with a tree from a local forest in Utrecht (NL). By touching the tree's growth rings, the visitor triggers auditorial memories that are stored within the tree. The auditorial experience consists of field recordings and archival audio fragments from the area. The installation is built from local wood and filled with a biodegradable conductive material. This makes the installation (after removing the embedded audio devide) fully circular and bio-degradable.

The installation is designed as a dialogue between humans and nature and as a response to the reocurring political debates about deforestation of the local forest to expand the infrastructure.

This installation is currently in exhibition at Landhuis Amelisweerd.
